How can I improve my catching for football?
I аm doubtless going tο play football thіѕ year аnd I аm mοѕt lіkеlу going tο play y (slot) receiver. Dο аnу οf уου guys know аnу drills I саn dο аt home bу mу self οr w/ mу dad tο improve mу hands? Thanks.
whenever somebody throws the ball at you look for the white half circle on the ball if u keep staring at that it helps you consantrate
keep on practising make pretend plays use brooms. rocks what ever u need to feel like a real game then run in criss crosses and catch
PRACTISE MAKES PERFECT
why donĀ“t you try by playing basketball? It’s a fantastic way for getting reflex and a quick reaction. Believe me I did it for a while and I’m able for making single-hand catches,
Catch bricks like Jerry Rice
if your just have problems holdning onto the ball once it hits your hands try getting excellent gloves… another trick it is to place your two pointer fingers together anf your thumbs together with the rest of your fingers spread out… the point of the football should land in the dimond made by your fingers touching each other… as your drills try sprinting and turning real quick with the ball right there… also try just running and not turning around and catching the ball and still be able to be running straight… the ball should go over your head… your ccan also look at plays from video games to get an thought of routes
mind the ball all the way into your hands. so many people look away and that causes drops. The only way to really teach is to play catch or play in games.
Here’s a few thoughts:
-Get 3 friends to throw you multiple footballs in rapid succession and chart how many catches you made.
-If possible, get in touch with someone who has a baseball pitch machine (one with the growth wheel, not the arm) and see if you can use it with a football. Numerous years ago, Denver Broncos receivers were having a hard time catching John Elway’s passes because he threw so hard and the ball arrived so quickly. They used a baseball head-over-heels machine and they found that it not only gave them better hands, but helped them focus on the ball better.
-Practice catching with one hand tied behind your back. 20 passes with the left hand, 20 passes with the right. And after each cycle, use both hands. Do this repeatedly.
2 things to remember:
-The more passes you catch in practice, the more you’ll be ready to catch at game time. Repetition and quanitity are the keys.
-Remember…don’t run with the ball or do anything else until you’ve caught the ball and secured it.
As my uncle Joe said “You got to bag them groceries before you can take ‘em home!”
Excellent luck and have fun!
Yea I questioned my coach that same question he said that when you look at the ball when its going to you, you will be able to see it like if its in slow motion. now everytime i go up for a catch or a touch i look at the ball the whole way owing to and it looks like its in slow motion and it makes it simple to cacth. also practice the way your hands are u have to make like a triangle thing to catch the ball.
Get a tennis ball throwing machine and catch dem
owing to practice, practice and practice.
