What are the rules for standing still with the basketball and redribbling?

In basketball practice I’m permanently getting called fοr double dribbling I rесkοn( I’m relatively nеw tο basketball). Bυt I wουld ѕtοр dribbling, hold thе ball, аnd re-dribble wіth one hand. Hοw іѕ thіѕ against thе rules?

Sorry, I r nеw tο basketball.

you cant stop your dribble . if you do, you have to shoot or pass.

You can’t dribble, stop and hold ball, then dribble again. Also, you can’t dribble with two hands at the same time.

Doesnt matter, one you pick up ur drible you cant dribble again. Since ur new to basketball id just like to say delight in the game as much as you can and never give up if you wanna be excellent.

its just against the rules because that’s how it is. double dribbling only occurs when you stay still and dribbling and start moving again thats well incorrect. i should know it happened to me all the time and people got really mad so just pass to someone else or if your slose enough or feeling lucky shoot the ball. anyway don’t go!

Because double-dribbling is giving you so many chances to keep the ball..and it just makes the game more intense to have that rule :)

the ball must have a rhythm and you cant pick it up and drible it again. if you do you can only shoot or pass. and once you stopped the dribble dont try to lay it up or most likey theyll call a travel.
