    Notre Dame

    Stanford.
Duke, Rice and Vanderbilt are all fantastic academically without fantastic football.
The list of fantastic football schools with questionable academics is too long to list here.

  • some_dude293 says:

Doubtless U. Michigan. They are usually ranked in the top-25 academically, and they have so many excellent programs.

  • quikkushirubaa says:

Well, I am not familiar with football that much but if your talking about California, then it would doubtless be UCLA. They are following place in education compared to all UC schools (Berekely is 1st) and has a excellent descent football team. USC is a excellent school but I believe UCLA are smarter than they are.

  • psycho-cook says:

I am thinking Stanford or Boston College. Stanford is considered Ivy League from what I have heard and Boston College was considered one of the best engineering colleges way back when I was looking at colleges.

  • sethsdadiam says:

Going to have to agree with Puma, but Boston College wouldn’t be a terrible choice either.

  • xoil1321321432423 says:

It completely depends on what academic program you are looking at. I mean Duke is top notch academically but their football team sucks. All of the Big10 school are pretty excellent academically. Although not as high as doubtless a USC or Notre Dame would be.

But different schools have different programs ranked differently so it depends :)

It’d be a tossup between Notre Dame, Stanford, (even if their football hasn’t been that excellent lately) and Tulane (same as Stanford)

  • Anjin-san says:

    Two that haven’t been mentioned:
    1) University of Texas is top fifty, with plenty of much better grad programs.
    2) Berkeley is a fantastic school, plus football has improved quite a bit lately.

  • brainstorm says:

The University of Michigan has one of the best Medical schools in the country. It also has a pretty excellent law school and one of the leading group of graduates in the country. Oh, and by the way, not too shabby a football program. (All time winningest school in NCAA history). Some of this is personal knowledge and you can find much much more at Wikipedia , from the NCAA, etc.

As a Notre Dame grad, I’m of course partial to them. But check the link and judge for yourself. You might conclude Notre Dame–but you might also pick Stanford or the University of North Carolina (a major football college, even if not necessarily high on the football list if you use national championships as a criteria).

Use link below and judge for yourself.

Notre Dame by far. Notre Dame struggled to attract many players over the last couple decades because it’s standards were so high. Not only is it very hard to get into that school, it takes a lot of try to keep your grades up. No majore sportsperson wants to go to school, they want to play.

    Notre Dame

  • tobeecasey says:

Penn State University. Joe Pa does not place up with players not making the grades. Also, PSU, although a party school, does have many excellent academic programs.

  • UNITool says:

Notre Dame without a doubt, football players are held to as high a standard as the rest of the student body. There are no dumb football players at Notre Dame.

The University Of Florida. They are soooo impressive in both arenas. Not to be confused with FSUcks.

  • emerald_trout says:

The quality of the education your student will receive from any University is determined by the education behind his instructors.

By that, I mean instructor # 1 who teaches your child, was taught by instructor # 2 , who was taught by instructor # 3, and you’re going to be looking at each generation of instructor. What you will find behind the instructors who are productive, proactive, creative and produce inspired productive – creative students is this: they graduated high school, then they went to work. After effective a while, they earned their bachelors point and went to work. Later, they earned their masters point and went to work. Irrevocably, they earned their Ph.D., and went to work.

In alphabetical order, there are two schools which are excellent : University of Florida – the Gators, and University of Texas – the Longhorns.

    It’s a tough choice.
Search the history of the University’s Who’s Who, look at what the universities have produced over the last two or three generations and see if that is the type person you have raised your son to be. If it is, choose that University.

    Hi,
Ohio State University aka OSU is not only the largest university in the USA,but has the number 1football team over and over again.it has lots majors and Columbus ,Ohio is a fun city with excellent employment oppurtunities.
Academics are hard, but worthwhile. Classes are large and alot of graduate students are teaching. It’s sad that each individual is a number nota name. That is the only thing I feel is unenthusiastic. They offer online classes, and regular classes.People are pretty nice and helpful. Reny is evenhanded especially witha roommate that you like, trust with paying his or hers part of thr rent and utilites.Look up more info on Yahoo!search and OSu.com
picking out the best college or university is not simple. I went to CWRU in Cleveland for my first point. The academics were very challenging and the people were nice. I f you are a geek,(do not take this incorrect) you will fit in.
Iwas in my 20′s and I had a hard time finding a really excellent looking guy,but as i grew older ,i realized looks aren’t every thing. The terrible thing about CWRU is:it is Downtown Cleveland. If you go there Go to Small Italy if you like Italian food and goto Mama Santa’s. It is soooo excellent ,imiss their pasta and pizza. I wish luck if you have any questions e- mail me any time

That’s like asking, who is the tallest midget!

You concentrate college for education not for football. It’s VERY stupid to select a college based on its football program. The football program at colleges distractions from the importance of the education.

Use US News & World Report that ranks the best colleges.

  • helixburger says:

Penn State. Paterno has permanently had a terrific graduation rate, and not in basket weaving. If their grades aren’t excellent, he won’t play ‘em!

  • explorer says:

    Stanford

  • Dun Dun says:

It’s a natural fact that getting into Notre Dame is the most trying thing to do for any sportsperson that doesn’t have superior grades, and maintaining a B+ average to stay on the team is just as much as a dawning task once you are accepted.

That’s the #1 reason why a few years ago all the sports analysis were saying that the talent level on the football team wasn’t what it once was, because the academic standards had gotten a small to high and all the blue chip players were looking else where because of it.

A excellent number of the athletes that concentrate Notre Dame more times than not have either an impressive SAT score (900-1450), a high GPA (3.5 – 5.0) or both.

Excellent football, all football players carry a 3.5 or better GPA, brilliant curriculum. A point from Notre Dame opens lots of doors.

  • frofus says:

This could be any number of schools. Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, Stanford, Michigan, Northwestern, Florida, Miami, Tenneessee, Arizona State, so on and so forth all are recognized academically in a touch. Also some schools have lowered academic standards in the past to bolster their athletic department. Notre Dame has been critizied for not doing that recently-the football program just wasn’t doing very well. I’ll give you that Stanford, Notre Dame, and Northwestern have the highest academic standards but Notre Dame has the most celebrated football program of these. So I believe that Notre Dame is the best.
