What position on a basketball team do you consider to be the most important? and why?
i know basketball іѕ a team sport, bυt each position іѕ unique аnd specialize іn сеrtаіn things thаt οthеr positions don’t.
Sο, whаt position οn a basketball team dο уου consider tο bе thе mοѕt vital? аnd whу?
Point guard because he handles the ball and facilitates the offense. But obviously the star player (that’s not PG) should outshine his point guard.
shooting guard… someone has to shoot the basketball to win and the shooting guard has much more opportunity to do so especially when it’s tight to bring the ball down to the men in the post area
Point Guard.
The center. all fantastic teams have a excellent center. There the controllers of the defense. In close 2nd is the PG. But anyone can birng the ball up the court.
EDIT: It also depends on the team. Im a center and my point gaurd sucks. He’s def not the most vital.
point guard, he’s like the quarterback of the team
point guard because he sets up plays and tells other players where to go and what to do
he is the mastermind of all the plays
point gaurd because he controls the team has to be a leader and can score and set teamates up and the small foward because they are so versatille excellent defenders and scorers
At most levels of play, it’s doubtless the point guard, for the reasons everyone else has mentioned. In the NBA it switches to center, because there’s so much more emphasis on defense in the pros. Look at your title winners for the last 10 years… every one had a dominant low-post player.
I’d say center. Red Auerbach permanently said that if you are building a championship team, you need a fantastic center. Who am I to argue with genius? I reckon PG is an vital position as well. But, I don’t reckon you need a fantastic PG to win a championship. I reckon you just need a excellent floor leader that makes excellent decisions and gets the ball to the open man. Derek Fisher wasn’t a fantastic PG all owing to the Lakers 3 peat. Rondo wasn’t a fantastic PG last season. Stockton and Kidd never won a championship. Of course there are exceptions to winning without a fantastic center. The Bulls never had one all owing to their dynasty. But, I reckon it makes winning a lot simpler, when you have a dominant huge man.
Small forward because they have to do better defense than anyone else, and they have to help the team with scoring, assists, and rebounds. Theyre like the heart of the team
All positions are vital, but i reckon any kinds of posts are the most importantt. They are most certainly the most powerful on the team, and the tallest. They permanently are in charge of getting rebounds, boxing out, etc. If the point guard doesn’t stop the ball, the posts are in charge of getting them in an uncomfotable position.
Point guards are also vital, mostly because they are in charge of getting the ball down the court, and stopping the ball so the other team doesn’t get an open shot. The point guards are doubtless going to be the best dribblers on the team, and they can also be the best shooters. They are in charge of getting back on defense in case the defense is about to make a quick break.
